Beijing: The Chinese Non-invasive skin cholesterol testing Technology. Cholesterol detection technology based on skin color.

Chinese experts have made a successful attempt to determine blood cholesterol by scanning hands. Obesity and heart patients have to constantly monitor their cholesterol.

But now Chinese experts have come up with a technology that can accurately estimate the amount of cholesterol in the blood just by looking at the skin without any problems or tests.

Non-Invasive Skin Cholesterol Testing:

To this end, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the University of Science and Technology have jointly devised a very simple method.

The less used hand is wiped clean with alcohol. A ring is then glued to the cleaned area. The hand is then placed on the scanner so that the ring fits with the scanner.

It should be noted that the less used hand is softer which makes it easier to estimate the ‘cholesterol’ by reading.

Just as light is scattered or absorbed by the skin, so is the spectral state of light. Then a liquid chemical is applied to the area of the ring. Now the skin is scanned again.

Even if the skin has a small amount of cholesterol, it starts to glow with this chemical, and thus the light spectrum of the skin changes.

The first and second scans are now compared. In this way, the amount of cholesterol in the patient’s body can be estimated. The method was tested on 121 patients with coronary heart disease.

Normally they knew their cholesterol. Now the new system measures cholesterol very accurately which shows its usefulness.

Details of this research have been published in Lipids and Health Diseases.
