Islamabad: President Alvi Asks HEC to Formulate E-Learning Policy.

In a meeting with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi called for an early education policy to promote e-learning in Pakistan.

In a tweet on the social networking site, President Dr. Alvi said,
“The faster it is done the better it would be for all kinds of online and distant education. I spoke on distance learning for the first time in 2006 as President of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation at the FDI World Dental Federation Conference in Shenzhen, China.”

The Code-19 situation has led to major changes in the education system around the world, forcing schools, colleges, and universities to close worldwide.

At a time when educational institutions are trying to find a way to provide education through online tools without compromising on quality, there is also a need for government support.

It should be noted that an effective policy to promote e-learning in Pakistan will not only make it easier for the people to adorn themselves with education but will also reduce the cost.

This will give more children access to education because they will not have to leave home.

Though, e-learning can never be used as a substitute for face-to-face learning. However, along with the usual methods of teaching, e-learning can be considered as an additional source of education.

President Dr. Arif Alvi, while presiding over the meeting of the Sub-Committee on Emerging Technologies on E-Governance, also stressed the need to establish an integrated government database to enhance the capacity of public sector organizations.
