ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has stopped the FIA from making arrests under the PECA Ordinance.
The Prime Minister has directed the DG FIA that work is underway to formulate rules and regulations for the implementation of the PECA Amendment Ordinance, no one should be arrested till the rules and regulations are ready.
The Prime Minister’s Office has barred the FIA from making arrests under the PECA Amendment Ordinance.
Sources said that instructions had been issued by the Prime Minister in this regard earlier, which have now been forwarded to the DG FIA.

The instructions issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that work was underway to formulate rules and regulations for the implementation of the PECA Amendment Ordinance.
PM office also said that no one should be arrested until the rules and regulations are in place. The rules and regulations on how to comply with the PECA Ordinance will include all the details.
Earlier, a petition was heard in the Islamabad High Court against the PECA Amendment Ordinance. The court issued notice to the Attorney General for judicial assistance tomorrow.
During the hearing of the petition, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Justice Atharmanullah said that there should be no defamation law for a public representative.
The Chief Justice had said that the world was moving towards criminalizing the disgraceful Cody, Zimbabwe and Uganda also denigrated Cody.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court further said that FIA has already submitted SOPs. According to SOPs, no arrest should be made on any complaint under section 20.
The Islamabad High Court had already stopped the FIA from making arrests under the Pika Act.
