President Dr. Arif Alvi approved the summary of the appointment of the Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee sent by the Prime Minister.
After the meeting with Imran Khan, the President held a meeting with the legal experts in the President’s House and approved the recommendation to be sent by the Prime Minister under Article 243 of the Constitution.

After the President’s approval of the summary, Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza was appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of Army Staff.
After the approval of the President, the summary will be received by the Prime Minister House, after which an official notification of the appointment of the Army Chief and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be issued by the Ministry of Defence.

Islamabad: The Prime Minister has decided to promote Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza to the post of General and appoint Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of the Army Staff.
A federal cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to consult on the appointment of the Army Chief.
Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Sherry Rehman, Aon Chaudhry, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Aminul Haque, Shah Zain Bugti, Maulana Asad Mahmood, and Riaz Pirzada participated in the meeting.
After the meeting, Federal Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb tweeted that Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has appointed Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of the Army Staff using the constitutional authority. He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent the summary to the President of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the President’s Secretariat has received the summary.
After the approval of the President, the notification of the appointment of the Army Chief and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be issued.
The President will make both appointments on the advice of the Prime Minister under Article 243 of the Constitution.
