Islamabad: Briefing the Parliamentary National Security Committee on the talks with the banned TTP.

The meeting of the Parliamentary National Security Committee was held at the National Assembly Hall in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser.

In the meeting, the military officials briefed the political leadership regarding the talks with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

The meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security was attended by Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif, Deputy Parliamentary Leader of PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The meeting was attended by Maulana Asad Mahmood from JUI-F, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema from PML-Q, and Akhtar Mengal from Balochistan National Party.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui from MQM, Khalid Hussain Magsi from Balochistan Awami National Party, and Ghous Bakhsh Khan Mehr from GDA also attended the meeting.

Federal ministers including Sheikh Rashid Ahmed from Awami Muslim League and Amir Haider Khan Hoti from Awami National Party, four provincial chief ministers including Punjab, president and prime minister of Azad Kashmir, and chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan were also present.

Talks with the banned TTP

The meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security was also attended by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG ISI.

The political leadership was briefed by the military authorities on the national security situation and the challenges ahead.

Surrender the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan

Sources said that the members were briefed on the talks held with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

According to sources, the participants of the meeting took a stand that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) should surrender. If it is ashamed to admit its mistake, then the state can recognize the Taliban.

The issue of agreement with TLP was also discussed in the meeting.

On this occasion, MQM Pakistan parliamentary leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui raised the issue of his party.

He said he kept asking for the office to open but was not allowed to do so.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid while talking to the media after the meeting of the National Security Committee said that there was a great atmosphere in today’s meeting, it should continue to happen, no decision was taken regarding the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban.

Info. Minister Fawad Chaudhry said:

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that the government and the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have agreed to a complete ceasefire.

Talking about the talks with the banned TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan), Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan in his interview on October 1, 2021, had mentioned the talks with the banned TTP.

Fawad Chaudhry said that under an agreement, the government of Pakistan and the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have agreed to a complete ceasefire. He said we can’t negotiate outside the constitution and law
